Enterprise Mobility Statistics Point to Robust Growth in 2019 and Beyond
In an increasingly mobile world, businesses that don’t embrace enterprise mobility could find themselves scrambling to keep up with their competitors. In fact, many companies already recognize the pressing need to bring mobility and technology solutions to their workforces.
Adobe found that in their recent survey of 1,500 global business leaders, 61 percent said that companies that don’t deploy enterprise mobile apps are at a competitive disadvantage.61 percent said that companies that don't deploy enterprise mobile apps are at a competitive disadvantage Click To Tweet
Sixty Three percent of respondents in a separate survey of global companies considered mobility to be the most important factor in gaining competitive advantage.
These statistics illustrate the growing urgency that business leaders feel when it comes to adopting enterprise mobility solutions.
What’s driving this trend in 2019? These three facts about mobility may be the answer.
1. Enterprise mobile apps increase productivity.
Businesses know that important decisions won’t wait for employees to be sitting at their desks. They rely on instant information, communication, and mobile access to stay productive and competitive.
For example, the ability to access updated inventory lists can make all the difference for medical device sales people. And the ability to instantly access a patient’s medical history is critical for healthcare providers.
When asked to rank the advantages of using enterprise mobility apps, Adobe survey participants placed increased productivity at the top of their list (cited by 51 percent of respondents), followed closely by better communication and reduced costs.
On the flip side, they also recognized the risks of not implementing enterprise mobility solutions: 61 percent cited less efficient operations, and 47 percent warned of losing out on new clients or potential sales.47 percent of Adobe survey participants warned of losing out on new clients or potential sales if not using enterprise mobile apps. https://www.zdnet.com/article/enterprise-mobile-apps-how-can-businesses-stay-ahead-of-the-curve/ via @ZDNet &… Click To Tweet
2. Enterprise mobility revenue is driving app research and growth.
With the global enterprise mobility market predicted to bring in $240 billion in revenue in 2020, companies will be devoting more research and greater resources to their own enterprise mobility solutions for years to come.
The trend is already apparent today, as reported by Developer Economics. In their most recent survey, app developers for business clients broke down the areas of greatest demand for development. The statistics show that businesses want apps that are enterprise-specific, and that drive productivity and efficiency.
Businesses are most often asking for enterprise-specific apps (cited by 64 percent of developers), followed by business and productivity tool development (cited by 52 percent). Businesses are also looking for general utility apps and communication apps to enable efficiencies and improvements within their organizations.
3. Mobile usage in 2019 continues to grow.
Recent statistics released by Flurry Analytics paint an incredible picture of mobile usage: U.S. users now spend an average of 5 hours each day on their mobile devices. That means people spend close to one third of their waking hours engaged in mobile activity.
The proportional usage of that time is also changing: users are spending 69 percent more time in mobile apps year-over-year. Browser usage on mobile devices has dropped precipitously, from 20 percent in 2013 to just 8 percent by the end of 2016.
Together, these statistics indicate that users are increasingly comfortable using apps for everything from entertainment to communication to productivity. Businesses that can successfully penetrate this mobile space will be better positioned to implement their enterprise mobility initiatives.
As Mobile Business Insights puts it:Instead of forcing employees to ditch their devices when they arrive at work, forward-thinking organizations are using mobility to put on-demand data and advanced capabilities at their employees' fingertips. Click To Tweet
